The Progress

A Little Background

"Progress" is a 1999 Seray Sundancer 400 with a waterline length of 42'. The home port is Toledo OH, and it is currently berthed at the City Marina in Charleston SC.

The end of April I will start the migration north from Charleston to Toledo. The trip will be up the Intercoastal Waterway (ICW) to Norfolk. Then through the Chesapeake & Delaware Bays and back into the ICW to New York City. After a break we will travel up the Hudson River and across the Erie Canal to Lake Erie and on to Toledo by memorial day. At least those are the plans for now.

The boat was purchased in Dec. and right now I am in the process of preparing the boat and myself for the journey. It's a pretty intimidating task since I've never had a boat of this size and complexity; but I'm learning, enjoying myself, and looking forward to the experience.

Keeping the boat in Charleston has also given me the wonderful opportunity to spend more time with my daughter and her family, and that's been great. It's just nice to be with them in an everyday setting rather than the "special visit" atmosphere. The time spent is much more casual, and there isn't the pressure to "do something". It's even fun to babysit and run errands.
